POETRY

Have you ever wondered about people who commit adultery?  Those who seemingly tread on dangerous ground without so much as a bruised ego?  "The Price of Deception" is a poetic view which focuses on the topic of extramarital affairs.

A romantic getaway for two or a chance meeting in a dark and steamy bar are both an adrenaline rush for some and - an escape for others.  Unhappy people hoping not to run into their wife's best friend or their husband's brother are as close as your neighbors next door.

What prices will those caught cheating - pay? "The Price of Deception" is a brief yet poignant look into the world of those who keep late office hours in the name of betrayal.

Infidelity is a lifestyle suited for those in committed relationships who are not satisfied with their marriages.  They are forever looking over their shoulders seeking to quench lustful desires and fill their empty existences.  For every deceptive action, there are consequences.

There are twelve disciples mentioned in biblical text. Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver and handed him over to the chief Sanhedrin priests. The Apostle Thomas doubted the validity of Christ's resurrection and needed proof that he was who he claimed to be by placing his finger into Jesus' wound.

What of Simon Peter? A man who walked with Christ and perished according to biblical teaching in a shamed fashion - as he felt unworthy to be executed in the same manner as his savior had before him. Peter wished to be crucified upside down. What if we could look into the last moments of Peter's thoughts and relive the anguish he must have felt in his final hours on earth. This poem takes us on a mental and visual journey of the plight and peril of Simon Peter.
